Patiala returns to London!

‘Patiala House’, the highly anticipated Bollywood blockbuster of the season, is set to hit UK screens on Friday 11th February. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia, along with a host of others, and promises to set the standard of Bollywood cinema for 2011.

Following an amazing year for Akshay Kumar, with hits in 2010 including the hilarious comedy ‘House Full’ and the romantic comedy ‘Action Replayy’ where he starred opposite the beautiful Aishwariya Rai, the stage has been set for an even more impressive year.

The film follows the story of the Kahlon family, focussing particularly on the relationship between Parghat Singh Kahlon aka Gattu played by Akshay Kumar and his father, played by Rishi Kapoor.

Set predominantly in Southall, we see Rishi Kapoor trying to hold on to his Indian values in a land that he does not believe is home. Akshay Kumar, a talented cricketer is torn between following his dreams of playing for England and his respect for his father.

Starring alongside Akshay is the stunning Anuskha Sharma who burst onto Bollywood screens in her debut role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the sparkling love story ‘Rab Ne Bana De Jodi.’ Her performance in the film was critically acclaimed, and her follow up films ‘Badmaash Company’ and ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ were also highly successful. With ‘Patiala House’ being her first venture outside Yash Raj Productions, the world is looking forward to seeing Anushka shine opposite Akshay.

Joining the cast are veteran Bollywood stars Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia who come together in the roles of the matriarch and patriarch to reign over Patiala House. Rishi Kapoor’s role sees him play the role of a powerful and dominant father – certainly a new step for the former heart-throb of Bollywood!

The film also features talented musician Hard Kaur in her debut acting role, where she plays Komal Chatwal, an aspiring rapper living in Southall.

The film is directed by the talented Nikhil Advani, who has directed a string of blockbusters, including his directorial debut ‘Kal Ho Na Ho.’ Advani started his career by assisting Karan Johar in his first two directorial projects, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
