After being away from the bhangra music industry for some time Jagtar Dulai returns with his next single entitled ‘Ariye’ with music label Humble Music.
The song has been composed by The PropheC who also penned the lyrics and video directed by Baljit Singh Deo.
Rupinder got the opportunity to catch up with Jagtar to talk about his new single.
You have been away from the music industry for a while... where have you been?
I’ve been working hard on a lot of new music trying to perfect my artistry. It's very difficult to release music as a new artist especially in India as I am doing hence why it took a bit more time to make the connections.
Can you tell us a bit about ‘Ariye,’ and how was it working with Canadian artist PropheC?
Ariye was shot in Vancouver by the great punjabi director Baljit Deo. Working with The Prophec was a great experience for me as he is one of my favourite artists. Really feel blessed to have worked with such a great team.
How is this song different to your previous songs?
This song is very emotional. It will make you feel a different array of emotions.
What changes have you seen in yourself since stepping into the industry?
In terms of changes there is a lot less music coming out of the UK which is disappointing. I really want to see more new punjabi artists coming out of the U.K.
How would you describe yourself and the music you make?
I would describe myself as a contemporary artist trying to get the younger generation to listen to punjabi music.
What do you believe makes a song successful?
I think being unique makes you successful. Not immediately but eventually I feel people do like someone who is different to everyone else.
What have you got planned in the future?
A lot of music is ready, so after Ariye on the 14th of November we will come out with music more consistently.
