Superjones ft. Ragga Twins - Straight Ruffneck (Video)
Superjones releases his new single ‘Straight Ruffneck’ featuring the vocals of London’s legendary Drum & Bass duo the Ragga Twins. Watch Video & Download it now!
Superjones explains, “For me, a ‘Straight Ruffneck’ is someone who is not afraid to go against the norm, be different or challenge authority. The project is also an exploration into the traits and behaviours of those we often refer to as ‘gangsters’, or those that are simply violent by nature”.
‘Straight Ruffneck’ will be the second single from Superjones’s forthcoming underground E.P. entitled ‘Kill The Shadow’. Superjones says that the use of the Ragga Twins vocal is purely for a nostalgic reason, “as a 90s teen and an avid Drum & Bass fan, the Ragga Twins bring back memories of great underground warehouse raves full of good music and carefree madness!”. The Ragga Twins have been around for over 30 years, recording and featuring on numerous records. They have also toured alongside Shabba Ranks and James Brown.
The cover for the single features the work of Aman Mojadidi, an American-born Afghan artist. The image, entitled “Dressing for Work”, was taken as part of a project called ‘A Day in the Life of a Jihadi Gangster’ which ‘explores the idea of globalized gangster styles and iconography while exploring Aman’s own dual cultural heritage as an American-born Afghan with strong familial ties to politics in Afghanistan, including jihad’. Aman’s work has been exhibited in over 12 countries including New York, Paris and Mumbai. He has also featured on CNN and TEDTalks.
The use of Aman Mojadidi’s work is part of a wider but small, self-run social media marketing initiative which sees Superjones posting daily pictures in the run-up to the release. The campaign entitled ‘#StraightRuffneck Of The Day!!!‘ includes pictures of famous gangsters, actors, musicians, everyday people and even a spiritual ‘guru’.
The music video has been shot in Turkey by film student, Melike Kasaplar, and stars Kerem Kaya as Dogan ‘Ganga’ Alpay (a small-time criminal) and Cemal Baykal as Mehmet ‘Pills’ Aksoy (a revered gangster).

I like how you automatically gave yourself +5 in 2 seconds
Nice work!
I'm not a PBN fan. I don't get it really. You people whine when i give constructive criticism to people and ask them to improve, and when i give credit (POSITIVE FEEDBACK) to someone who actually got talent, you guys start whining again.
Grow up :-)
Talk about overbearing pride Weeman. You are just like a PBN fan except from the other side of the river. Being biased and loud doesn't make you a "smart" poster.
I agree with Khede Pind Di. Take this non-bhangra stuff someplace else.

bit harsh :/ what is it to you
Bandish Pojekt could pull it off and so should you! Your production skills are great. Very few people are able to produce something decent. Even the greats as Sanjeev Abhyankar and Rashid Khan experiments with fusion music.
Don't hold back. With talent like yours you can pull it off. :-D
Badi dheere jali has been on repeat and the kids are getting pissed off ;)
Thing is if it was any other genre I'd rip the shit out of it, but when approaching Indian Classical Music I think it demands respect and therefore I would not sample and remix anyones work like that.
But having said that, WATCH THIS SPACE!!
Much love Weeman!
