Diljit Dosanjh releases his highly awaited new solo album 'Back 2 Basics'. The album features production from acclaimed UK producer 'Tru Skool' - who will producing all the songs on the album!

'Back To Basics' is Diljit Dosanjh's first album since 'The Next Level' - Which released Autumn 2009, and was produced by Honey Singh.

'Back To Basics' follows the scrapped release of 'Urban Pendu' - which caused controversy across Punjab with the single '15 Saal (15 years old)'. After scrapping the album, Diljit Dosanjh has since parted ways with Honey Singh & instead turned to Hiphop/Folk producer Tru Skool for this new album.

A time when real Punjabi music was created, listened to and appreciated; its beautiful sound resonating across the green plains of Punjab and indeed, any corner of the world where Punjabis resided.

A name synonymous with unparalleled success in the field of Punjabi music & Punjabi cinema alike, has been meaning to take the opportunity to return to the grassroots for a very, very long time and this opportunity couldn't have come sooner.

Diljit - "Since the beginning of my career, I have had a monumental journey and delved into different styles & sub-genres of Punjabi music however my heart, my soul & my real passion has ALWAYS been the original Punjabi Folk style immortalized by the likes of the great Sri Kuldeep Manak, Amar Singh Chamkila, Gurdas Maan Sahab, Surinder Shinda Ji and countless other greats. I have always wanted to create an album which captures the true essence of the beauty of Punjab, Punjabiyat & Punjabi Sangeet combined seamlessly with western elements- all the while preserving the authentic aroma of Punjabi music".

Tru-Skool (Sukhjit Singh Olk)

Sukhjit Singh Olk, widely known as Tru-Skool, is one of the premier music producers from the UK with an impeccable catalogue of releases that span his somewhat short yet startling career. The title Tru-Skool gives a clear indication of what to expect from this tremendously talented individual- he has dedicated his whole musical life to creating music which is totally immersed in the sound of Panjab and Panjabi Folk music whilst maintaining a contemporary edge by amalgamating this rich and diverse musical foundation with a variety of Western flavours.

Tru-Skool - “I was quite surprised when Daljit called as, to a degree, it was unexpected. I hadn’t really had any interaction with Daljit previously however that first initial conversation set the precedent for our relationship throughout this project; he was very respectful, compromising, receptive and easy to get on and work with from start to finish. Daljit is a very talented singer and he performed exceptionally well within the vocal booth”.

Back to Basics is a humble attempt to recapture that period of Punjabi music, often referred to as the 'Golden Era', when complex compositions, clean instrumentation and meaningful music were the order of the day. A time when every village would fill with flocks of excited listeners eager to capture a glimpse of a live Akhada (stage performance). It is therefore totally apt that Diljit approached none other than renowned UK music director Sukhjit Singh Olk (Tru-Skool) to help his dream come to fruition. Tru-Skool is a genuine exponent of Punjabi music who has committed his career to creating raw Punjabi Folk music intertwined with his inimitable and distinctive brand of real Hip-Hop to create a unique and exclusive style of music that is so obviously his own.

'Back to Basics' is a collaborative effort with both Diljit & Tru-Skool putting their heart and soul into carefully selecting the best lyrics, tirelessly working to carve the cleanest of compositions, expertly deciding upon the direction of each track and spending countless hours of immeasurable hard work to create something that is true to themselves and true to Punjabi music. This album is intended to be an expression of both Diljit & Tru-Skool and it is their humble attempt to present Punjabi music in a way that most artists in this day and age wouldn't dare to.
