Sheena confirmed as voice of International Youth Day 2015

New Brit talent chosen to support UN as the voice of youth and is set to perform a FREE live performance in Central London on International Youth Day!

“A voice that captures the simplicity, tone and skill that commands wide-reaching attention….I work with many world class vocalists, this is certainly one singer that doesn’t disappoint and I’m proud that she’s supporting the United Nations with her voice on International Youth Day 2015” – Joshua Alamu, BBC The Voice

Sited by BBC’s The Voice coach, Joshua Alamu, as ‘a star’, the stunning singer/songwriter, Sheena Ladwa, has been chosen by UNESCO to be the voice of International Youth Day 2015 with her debut single, ‘Moving On’ (released on 18 September), which is a message of hope and strength for the world’s youth. Conveying a positive inspirational message of ‘moving on’ from the transition of childhood to adulthood, ‘Moving On’ will be performed at a live and FREE pop up event at Regent’s Place, London on Wednesday 12 August:

“This is an inspirational message for all the youth of our world,” explains Sheena, “I wrote it for all cultures and all races in the hope that it will give them the courage and strength to make the right choices in life as they leave school and college. Life isn’t easy when you’re young, so I’m insistent that I give a FREE live performance in the centre of London on 12 August, which is International Youth Day 2015, so that EVERYONE can attend, no matter what their circumstances.” .

This vocal and lyrical fire-cracker who had Bollywood at her fingertips and the FA calling to trial for the England’s women’s team, booted everything aside for her musical passion. With a stunning album bursting with original pennings scheduled for release in early 2016 and ambassador of the super music academy, Ultimate Artists 2015, as well as supporting the United Nations for International Youth Day, Sheena Ladwa means business!

A delicious fusion of everything that’s Western, ‘Moving On’ is a cocktail of RnB/Soul & Funk, all shrink-wrapped in a catchy pop wrapper. Sheena, smartly presents this track as her debut introduction to the global music scene, reinforcing the message that her generation are ‘moving on’ from the past as East meets West and produces a whole new breed of creative minds. Co-written and produced by Ramzi Sleiman, who has worked with the likes of Rudimental, Taio Cruz and The Overtones, at The Oven Studios in Chiswick, London, which is home to other reputable producers such as Sarah deCourcy (Nicole Scherzinger, Klyie Minogue) and Ben Collier (Sigma, Ella Henderson). Mixed by Grammy Award Winning producer/mix engineer Aamir Yaqub. ‘Moving On’ is a fresh inspiring vibe; a gorgeous musical masterpiece with Sheena’s divine vocals embedded firmly as the stunning jewel within this melodic crown.

Born and raised in Nottingham in the mid ‘80s, Sheena is the daughter of, Praful Ladwa, one of the lead male signers in the globally famous, Bollywood Pandits, the UK’s largest and most critically acclaimed The obvious expectation was for Sheena to follow in her father’s footsteps as a rightful heir to this Bollywood crown. Hell no! Sheena Ladwa is a free spirit who believes life is yours for the living, not a cultural expectation that dutifully needs to be fulfilled. As a talented footballer for Wollaton Ladies, Sheena also got the call up from the FA to trial for the England Team; this coupled with the temptation of Bollywood in reaching distance, meant that Sheena had some serious decisions to make. Not a problem for this single minded dynamo who knew that ‘music’ was her passion – and she fully intends to grab it.

“Dreams are for the taking and I want every young person to hear the message of ‘Moving On’. Make the right choices and love your life,” demands Sheena.

The debut single, ‘Moving On’ is released on 18 September on Bright Star Music and will be performed at a FREE live pop up performance on 12 August, which isUNESCO’s International Youth Day 2015, at lunch-time at Regent’s Place London.
