The official video of “Lungi Dance” has been released and has received rave reviews within hours. It almost instantly achieved viral status online, with more than 37,000 viewers within a day of release and social media circles abuzz with positive reactions.

Stars from “Chennai Express” Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone groove along to the song sung by popular rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh in a tribute to superstar Rajinikath. The song is entitled “Thaliver Tribute” and was dedicated to Rajinikath, acknowledging his status and contribution within the Indian cinema. Yo Yo Honey Singh composed the song himself and the legendary Indian actor agreed to accept the tribute.

Shah Rukh announced that the tribute had been released, stating that if you were going to make a film called Chennai Express it was only fitting to bow to the greatest acting talent of all time. Legendary actor Rajini gave the nod to the tribute, and for Yo Yo Honey this was the equivalent of winning big at an iPhone casino, as having the praise and acknowledgement from a star of such high calibre is worth its weight in gold. Fans of the Indian actor have long bequeathed the title on Rajinikath of “Thalaivar” meaning “supreme leader” and the song takes its title from this.

The song was the brainchild of Yo Yo Honey Singh and Shah Rukh Khan as they are huge fans of the superstar and wanted to create a musical homage to his greatness. Shah Rukh Khan approached Deepika Padukone to participate in the song and the actress happily agreed as she is a big fan of Rajini. Deepika is also the leading lady in Rajini’s upcoming film “Kochadaiyaan” which is directed by his talented daughter Soundarya. It will be India’s first 3D film and it’s guaranteed to be breathtaking.

Rajini has always been regarded as the South Indian film industry’s biggest star and he was catapulted to international stardom by his role in the movie “Robot” (Endhiran”). The “Thaliver Tribute” is a fitting song for someone who has contributed so much to Indian cinema and who continues to play an incredible role both in the theatre and out.

Chennai Express will be released on August the 9th and the “Thaliver Tribute” or “Lungi song” will feature on the soundtrack.
