Bhangra Wars 2013 - Rival Team Match-ups Announced!!

Another much anticipated announcement from Bhangra Wars 2013 committee has been released today.



The Announcement has added a whole new sense of rivalry and competitive spirit to the already popular competition. The Rival Team match ups were suggested by Team Captains who attended a Bhangra Wars 2013 meeting last month in Leicester. The ultimate decision was made by the Bhangra Wars organising committee after much consideration.

The Team Rival Match-Ups are as follows:

- Ankhile Girls Vs Ankhi Jawan
- Josh Valaithian Da Vs Gabhru Academy
- Asian Street Remix Vs Phulkari Mutiyara Di
- Nachda Sansaar Vs Ankhile Putt Punjab De


The organising committee are confident this will bring so much more to the competition and will see unique routines from teams with added passion and drive to defeat the rival team. The Winning team will be decided by their scores. The team with the highest score between the two will win and be presented with an award. The Winner for Bhangra Wars 2013 will be the Team with the Highest mark Overall.

Bhangra Wars 2013 will be held on
Saturday 5th October  at the legendary Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham.

Tickets will go live for public sale on 5th August via Simplybhangra.com

Commenting so specifically on teams and how they find new members and their moves etc is pretty suspicious as unlike bhangra music the bhangra dance scene isnt easily available to see on the internet or tv and so if so much in-depth knowledge is known im going to assume that you are a member of the team which you so strongly believe is the best, and so obviously you will have a negative opinion on all other teams!

Maybe im being too sceptical/ trusting but the average asian guy/ girl doesnt really sit around watching bhangra dance videos on youtube or going to see all the performaces...a nd so those with in detail knowledge are most likely those involved in the 'art-form,' and so will have a heavily biased opinion.

Look at Sansaar's line up and the calibre of dancers that they have recruited then that alone will he enough for sansaar, APPD we all know the method on how they recruit i.e going to other teams practises and nicking their dancers and ideas, as far as am aware even looking at their audition vids you can clearly tell they got their choreo from Folk Stars routine which on the whole was done by the sansaar lads. GPD ha lets not go their one of the weakest auditions, execution of moves was bad, wasnt in sync and looked lost. AJ who are all imperials lads, who will you copy this time FAUJ? Forteeley Shoukeen? Have u actually ever came up with original ideas. People who know bhangra know that sansaar did not even try at the audition vid they played it safe and got thru. So yh am expecting sansaar to pip everyone!!!

Gurjohar singh clearly needs his eyes checked most of the teams used incomplete moves and even seemed to do thier own version of the moves, Gpd were both traditional and they executed the moves propely they are definetly clear winners for me keep it up guys and keep it traditional none of this swag rubbish, you'll definetly have full support from all us in India!

Seems the UK Bhangra Dancers scene is turning into that of the North American; in that the groups act like their a gang and attack others on forums...give it a few months and you'll hear that a fight broke out at an after party!

Yes its hard work and time consuming but belittling your competition to the extent that you call others copy-cats/ saying that they steal dancers (you cant steal a dancer-the person chooses to leave because their prospects in the other team are better) is a bit sad!

Dont get so emotionally wound up, its only a dance competition!

It's out of AJ or APPD based on their style and their execution of moves. Other teams either just don't have their own style but yet have their own "swag" = Incomplete moves, or try to copy other teams or even try to make there own style but ending up looking like individuals rather than a team.
