I was thinking to myself how to labels actually make money if piracy is killing the industry, do they get some sort of cut through singers/producers bookings.

Pretty much, singers gotta pay a cut from bookings because album sales don't cover the costs of promotion i.e. the videos, manufacturing of the CDs etc.

Just to clarify Nirmal Sidhu has left VIP Records he only does one album deals and moves onto the next.

Manak E's contract is up and will more than likely bounce back to moviebox.

Tru Skool has a few albums that are nearing completion and will more than likely see release on Moviebox. Bottom thing is labels in Bhangra are there to put your stuff on tv. As far as everything else goes unless you are a live band singer your on your own as far as promotion goes. All you people ripping stuff off PZ10, VIBE[censored], NannuInfo, Dj Preet, and every other tom [censored] and harry pirating website is to blame. Buy stuff legally labels will be able to actually support their artists and the quality of releases will go up its simple. The bhangra industry of the early 90's proved this.

Why complain about a monopoly in the bhangra industry? At least they making an attempt...anywa ys just one guys opinion. :D

Record labels mean nothing in the bhangra industry. All of them are unprofessional and have no idea how to run a business. I'm not surprised tru skool didn't get a contract with VIP Records. E3UK are one of the worst labels out there..they have over 15 COMPLETED albums in the pipeline that will probably never come out. The whole E3UK record label is a joke and is just something that is focused on when they see a slump in their sales.

Don't forget soundpipe check how many CCJ's they have..

Record labels mean nothing.....
