"THE WORLDS FIRST BOOK ON BRITISH BHANGRA MUSIC" OR NOT??
The above book which profiles what has happened in the Bhangra Music as a whole has been published.  BUT, within the Bhangra industry and the general public day by day, as they see the book or hear about it are bitterly upset regarding the contents of it.

The writers have used lots of the public money (and this is in the 1000’s) in writing this book without taking advice from the senior members of the Bhangra industry.

The book states that the music started in the 80's on wards!  But lots of the hard work was put from the artist's from the 60's & 70's who struggled to make way and open the doors for the artist's of the 80's plus, Everybody worked very hard to promote Bhangra in the early days and when Alaap call themselves ‘Pioneers of Bhangra’, AS Kang had already made that mark along time ago.

The book does not give a true image of what has happened in the Bhangra from the second page, where it says Birmingham & Beyond has images from London to support the article?

SimplyBhangra have been totally neutral about the whole thing but what we are saying to everybody is that please just see the images and photos in the book, what do they tell you?

I have read the book and actually Mr TSB who feels he has teh right to be profiled and right to be interviewed is wrong. The book states it is an introduction to Bhangra Music and it does start with teh 60\'s and 70\'s artistes, but this book is not an Ato Z of Bhangra or an Encycolopedia so it does not need to list the names and bands who were all there at the start. Anyway Mr TSB - what do you think about Malkit Singh OBE - ?? let\'s be truthful ??

A very good book. Congrats to those involved. Whether we like it or not, it is the first book on British Bhangra music. If we disagree then it\'s up to us to write our own book/s or set up our own websites to write other histories of Bhangra. Have any of us done that on this forum?

I have to agree with the comments below. The idea is great and i think that its great to highlight the true bhangra artists who helped start it .However i think that book is clearly not doing that, it could be argued that its harming the idea rather than helping it. The book needs to be made but need to be made properly ! P.S it is abit of a joke how the images were all bias towards london acts ! Come on now be real

I have the copy of the book and fully support what Mr. Tarlochan.Singh . Bilga has commented. There has not been any mention about the true facts behind the history and the book is a \'joke\'!!! Not only should it be removed and some serious thought be put into the contents, but also not be plugging people who have made a DENT in the industry. We talk about big problems of piracy and we than see a book that touches the element of the TRUE BHANGRA ROOTS!! Where is the logic behind this. Support Bhangra, look at its Roots and let the future [censored]ren know how it was created!!
