The UK Bhangra scene better watch out! There’s a new artist Prem Singh whose debut release ‘Shaal Marke’ features the remix production skills of no other than UK Garage legend the Artful Dodger now known as Artful.

The singer/song writer deriving from Kent in the UK has been singing for most of his life first taught by his uncle who discovered that he had a vocal talent. He then went onto train with ‘Ustads’ (singing teachers). Since then, he has done backing vocals on various UK Bhangra albums and is now ready to hit the big time in the Bhangra world.

His debut single ‘Shaal Marke’ meaning ‘jump up and hit the dance floor’ will be released on July 30th on iTunes, Amazon and all other online music stores. There will also be a desi bhangra version to this song accompanied by a video for both versions

Prem’s musical influences consist of Surinder Shinda, Kuldip Manak, Hans Raj Hans, Mohammed Rafi and Sartinder Sartaj. He was also asked to do various melas around the UK in the summer of 2011 with the likes of Jazzy B, Juggy D, Taz from Stereo Nation and JK. Having debuted this track on Radio 1’s Desi Beats show with Nihal, the presenter and DJ described the track as; ‘one of the top three tracks of the year so far!’
