Exclusive Interview with Manpreet Toor

ManpreetToor

Manpreet Toor recently had the opportunity to fly to the UK and film with hitmaker PBN for his latest track, Bhangra Paundi! Simply Bhangra's Trisha Arora spoke to Manpreet about her career in dance as well as this latest project.

Talented dancer and choreographer Manpreet Toor, famous for her grace, creativity and diverse choreography has been creating buzz with her Youtube channel, Dance With Manpreet.

As Dance With Manpreet continues to grow, so do the amount of projects and collaborations.

How did you start dancing and where did you learn from? Have you faced any challenges while turning your passion for dance into a career/lifestyle?

I started dancing at the age of 9 when my mom put me in a dance team. As I was transitioning from dance being my passion to my career it was very emotionally challenging. It was emotionally challenging because it was a big risk because I was leaving school to follow something in which I didn't have a guaranteed future.

What goals did you have in mind when you started your Youtube channel?

When I first started my Youtube channel with Playground our goal was to make a platform for others to learn dance. As we progressed it's turned into a place for me to perform. Overall our goal is to continue to be consistent with YouTube and put out enough content to keep my followers intrigued.

What motivated you to start doing workshops?

Since the beginning of my dancing journey I've always enjoyed teaching dance. As we grew I wanted to make sure this was something I continued to do. Unfortunately my busy schedule did not allow me to continue to teach. So we decided that workshops were more flexible way for me to continue to teach dance.

Now that the secret is out, how was your experience working with PBN? How did this opportunity come about?

He saw a couple of my videos and reached out to me about a possible collaboration for his new single, "Bhangra Paundi". Being a fan for so many years, I couldn't pass up this opportunity. One thing led to another and I ended up in England.

Overall my entire experience with PBN and his team was amazing. I've never met someone who was as passionately in love with music as I am. Harpeet, definitely deserves all of the praise that he receives as a music artist and as an individual. Can't wait for you all to see what we cooked up!

How have collaborations and social media helped your brand?

Collaborations can never go wrong, its something I personally love involving myself in. Not only is it fun its a great way to gain a different audience.

Where do you see yourself and your brand in 5 years? Is acting an avenue that you would like to explore?

I definitely see myself taking off, hopefully in the next two years. I want to build a platform with my team in the Punjabi and Bollywood industry that is centred on dancing and video production. As far as acting goes, as of right now I don't want to go into acting. Maybe in the future if I become more interested in it I would love to explore it.

Are there any other future projects or trips you can tell us about?

As of right now, workshops are definitely something that we are focusing a lot of our time on. We are planning on going on a North America dance workshop tour, so watch out for that!

I've seen how much support you receive at each one of your performances. Do you think your fans and their support are a major factor in your success?

Of course! I wouldn't be who I am without my followers and wouldn't be where I am today without them.

Who are your biggest influences in the dance world?

Aside from Madhuri, I think there are so many people who have influenced me. I am influenced by not just dancers, but the people in my day to day life like my parents, and individuals who are really driven like SuperWoman.
